Gordon Peery, fine art photographer

In the first chapter lasting twenty-eight years, I was an architectural photographer on assignment to record our “man-made” environment. The second chapter is more abstract: recording the “nature-made” environment. Architects have specific requirements - creation of shelter for man’s activities - utilitarian art. Nature’s designs are freeform - Nature’s Rules. Both disciplines utilize line, pattern, texture, form, volume, and color.

After many years I’m still stimulated by the application of those graphic elements and with the photographic process: earlier, the immergence of an image on paper submerged in developer, and of late, Giclee Printing, the spraying of millions of droplets of ink - triggered by a string of ones and zeros. In either case photography continues to be a celebration of a seemingly magical process.

Occasionally my images are without recognizable objects…just the application of the design elements. Perhaps in the absence of familiar objects, our fantasies have more freedom of flight. Hopefully there is a subtle strength in the simplicity of these images.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you’ll enjoy this ongoing challenge - the search for fresh, stimulating perspectives. I would appreciate your observations. Gordon Peery
